Meet our lactation-certified clinician, Kathleen Hazel, CNM, IBCLC!
Kathleen “Katie” Hazel grew up in rural Maine, amid the rocky coast and beautiful ocean sunrises. She holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Antioch College, a Masters degree in Nurse Midwifery from Vanderbilt University, and is an IBCLC Lactation Consultant with training from the UCSD. She “caught” her 1st baby and helped his mom breastfeed for the 1st time in rural Japan apprenticing with local rural midwives while officially teaching English with the JET program. She has worked within urban and rural Birth Centers, Military Hospitals, within Private Practice & with Community Health Centers throughout the United States. Her work with the National Health Service Corp brought her back to New England ten years ago from time spent in Smoky Mountains of Tennessee and she has never felt more at home and plans to stay for many years to come. When not laughing and working with her patients and colleagues, she enjoys kayaking and hiking about with her family. Katie brings a kind, thorough, empathetic and evidenced based approach to the care of her patients.
